There is a place in NAOMI for every person of faith and goodwill who wants a more just community.
You do not have to belong to a member congregation to take part. Come to a meeting, join a task force, volunteer with Safe Passage, or become a sustaining donor. Many of NAOMI's leaders started by showing up once.
Faith communities covenant with NAOMI's mission to build community and address poverty and injustice together. Member congregations send leaders to NAOMI, host events, and take collective action that no single congregation could take alone. If your congregation is interested, we would be glad to come and talk with your leadership.
NAOMI's energy today is focused on one program, and it needs people.
Our Immigration Task Force created and runs Safe Passage, which provides volunteer rides to immigration hearings and emergency assistance for immigrant and refugee families in Marathon County, in partnership with HOLA, New Beginnings, ECDC, and the Hmong American Center. Drivers, coordinators, and congregational champions are all needed.
Volunteer with Safe Passage →NAOMI co-organizes Wausau's annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration and supports events across the community, including National Transit Day, Earth Day, Wausau Pride, Juneteenth, the Community Cultures Festival, and Madison Action Day. Volunteers help with planning, setup, tabling, and hospitality.
